Rooted in tradition.
Educated for the world.

CAIS is a Muslim liberal arts college, bringing Arabic, the Islamic sciences, the arts of language and thought, and the great works of Islamic and European civilisation into one education.

A Muslim liberal arts college

Knowledge was never meant to be divided.

CAIS begins from an older and more demanding idea of education: revelation, language, reason, number, history and moral formation belong within one ordered life of the mind. Arabic and the Islamic sciences provide the centre; the liberal arts give students the instruments to read, reason, speak and judge well.

Why CAIS must exist

The liberal arts at CAIS

The arts that
form a mind.

CAIS revives the liberal arts that once stood at the centre of both the Islamic and European intellectual traditions. The trivium—grammar, logic and rhetoric—trains students to follow meaning, reason with discipline and speak with clarity. The quadrivium—arithmetic, geometry, harmonics and astronomy—opens the mind to number, proportion and the intelligibility of the created order.

Together, these seven arts are not an optional addition to study. They are the instruments by which students learn to read deeply, judge carefully and pursue truth with intellectual humility. At CAIS, they serve an education directed towards knowledge, character and a life of meaningful contribution.

The CAIS education

Learn the arts
that make learning possible.

Grammar, logic and rhetoric train the student to follow meaning, test an argument and speak with care. Arithmetic, geometry, harmonics and astronomy recover a vision of number, proportion and order. These arts prepare the mind for serious study—and place learning in the service of worship, character, vocation and society.
