Terms, fees & refunds · Last updated 16 August 2026

Study with clarity,
from the outset.

These Terms, Fees and Refunds Policy apply to applications and enrolment with the College of Arabic and Islamic Studies (hereafter “CAIS”, “we”, “us”). Our correspondence address is Greencoat House, 259 Stratford Road, Birmingham, B11 1QS. CAIS’s registration as a charity is currently pending. These terms are designed to make our arrangements clear and fair. They do not remove any rights you may have under applicable consumer law.

Application and offers

Submitting an application does not guarantee a place and does not create a contract for tuition. If CAIS offers you a place, we will confirm the programme, fees, start date, payment arrangements and any conditions in writing. A contract for study is formed only when you accept the offer in the way we specify and we confirm your enrolment.

Published fees

For the September 2026 intake, the Diploma in Islamic Studies is £720 and the Philosophy, Politics & Economics programme is £1,500. Students who pay the full programme fee before teaching begins receive the published pay-in-full price: £600 for the Diploma and £1,300 for PPE. These figures cover tuition only unless we expressly state otherwise; books, travel, accommodation and personal expenses are not included.

Payment arrangements

You may pay in full before teaching begins or use an agreed instalment arrangement. The due dates and payment method will be confirmed in your offer or invoice. If a payment is late, please contact CAIS promptly. We will seek to resolve the matter fairly; persistent non-payment may lead to suspension from teaching or withdrawal, after reasonable notice.

Your 14-day right to cancel

Where you accept an offer online, by email or otherwise at a distance, you may normally cancel within 14 days of the day after the contract is formed, without giving a reason. To cancel, email hello@collegeofislamicstudies.org with your name, programme and a clear statement that you wish to cancel. If you have asked us in writing to begin providing teaching during that period, we may retain a reasonable amount for teaching already provided, as permitted by law.

Withdrawal before teaching begins

After the 14-day period but before the first scheduled teaching session, you may withdraw in writing and receive a full refund of tuition paid. We do not charge an application fee or an administrative cancellation fee for the September 2026 intake.

Withdrawal after teaching begins

If you withdraw after teaching has begun, submit your request in writing. We will calculate any refund fairly, taking account of the tuition already delivered, teaching commitments reasonably incurred for the cohort and the date we receive your request. We will explain the calculation in writing. A refund is not available for teaching already received, but we will not apply a blanket “no refund” rule.

If CAIS changes or cancels a programme

We may make reasonable changes to teaching staff, timetable, venue, reading lists or delivery method where needed to maintain or improve the programme. If we make a material change that significantly disadvantages you, we will explain the options available. If CAIS cancels a programme before it starts and cannot offer a suitable alternative you accept, we will refund tuition paid. If an interruption occurs after teaching begins, we will work in good faith to provide an appropriate remedy, which may include replacement teaching, an alternative arrangement or a proportionate refund.

Attendance, conduct and academic participation

Students are expected to attend punctually, prepare conscientiously and treat fellow students, staff and guests with dignity and respect. CAIS may take proportionate action where conduct seriously disrupts learning, threatens safety, involves harassment or dishonesty, or repeatedly breaches reasonable college requirements. Any decision to suspend or withdraw a student will be made fairly and with an opportunity to respond where practicable. Refunds in such cases will be considered against the circumstances and applicable law.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with a decision, service or refund outcome, write first to hello@collegeofislamicstudies.org with the details. We will acknowledge your complaint and aim to provide a considered written response within 14 days. If more time is needed, we will tell you why and when to expect a full response.

Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy where necessary, but any change that materially affects an enrolled student’s fees or cancellation rights will be communicated directly and will not override statutory rights. The current version will be published here.
